Tell American Idol to Stop Exploiting Workers
Onstage, it's all glamour and stardom. Offstage, American Idol employees are singing a different tune.
The company that produces Idol and other wildly successful TV shows, known as FremantleMedia, is trampling on its workers' rights. Idol's producers are under investigation for withholding overtime pay and failing to provide meal and rest breaks. The fact that it's against the law hasn't stopped them.
And for many workers, basic industry-standard benefits – health insurance, minimum compensation, and retirement packages – are simply unheard-of. Demand that American Idol producers change their tune!
